food, boulez, ska

hey! the dill pickle co-op is finally open! great place with reasonable prices on bulk foods, organic spices, loose tea, and whatever's on sale. their selection of food from local farmers and local prepared food companies is excellent.

here's a great article on pierre boulez.

i recently saw him conduct the CSO performing these:
Pierre Boulez - "Livre pour cordes"
Béla Bartók - Concerto for Two Pianos, Percussion and Orchestra
Igor Stravinsky - "The Firebird"
even better, i was lucky enough to attend this performance for free!

lastly, this is a pretty great idea:

i guess i have a video or song in every post now, so here's 80s two-tone classic, "free nelson mandela" by ska supergroup The Special AKA

another couple months have passed

HEY

Here's a video of Mike Una's audio performance at the MCA two days ago. I'm mixing video, projected on the wall above him, using his moire pattern dvd, a video generator he built, a small camera aimed at his hands and his gear, and some feedback.

Also, yesterday i was reminded of the genius that is Aaron Spectre, aka Drumcorps. Looking into his music further, i discovered that he's done an awesome breakcore remix of one of my favorite 90s punk songs, "Disconnected" by Face to Face.
